5 Highest Paying Skills + Courses of 2024

Hi guys, I hope you’re doing well. And I also hope that you realize how tough the job market scenario is in 2024. If you need a job, make sure you’ve specialized skills because finding jobs without them is very difficult right now.

Specialized Skills for 2024

What are these specialized skills you need to acquire? And how to acquire them? You will find the answer to that in this video. These skills are not randomly chosen. I found them after reading the India Skills Report 2024. This report has been created by Wheebox in partnership with AICTE and Google. In simple words, it’s a highly reputed and credible report spanning 147 pages. After thoroughly reading it, I’ve identified the top 5 skills as well as how to learn them.

Data Analysis

Talking about those top 5 skills, the first is ‘Data Analysis. Within this, there are 5 specific tools you need to learn. I’m listing their names here: Python, R programming, SQL, Hadoop, and Spark.

Before moving forward, let me clarify that I don’t have a tech background. In fact, I come from a commerce background and have completed my MBA. So, if I make any mistakes while explaining something related to tech, you can correct me in the comments of this video.

The demand for data analysis and data science has increased so much in the market that according to a report by LinkedIn, it was mentioned that the data analyst is going to be one of those jobs in the future with the highest hiring.

Where to Learn Data Analysis

So, where can one learn these skills? I’ve found 3 courses that cover all 5 of these aspects:

  1. IBM Data Analyst Professional Certificate
  2. IBM Data Analyst with Excel and R
  3. Spark, SQL, and Hadoop (available on the Udemy platform, priced around Rs. 499/-)

Out of these, the third course is paid, while the first two courses can be audited for free. If you don’t have a background in data analysis, I would recommend starting with the first one. It doesn’t require any computer science background and will start from the very basics.

Project Management in AI

Let’s move towards our second skill, named ‘Project Management’, especially in the field of AI. Project management is one of those fields where an 18% growth rate has been observed, especially for those with a non-technical background such as MBA graduates. For them, this field will become very interesting in the future because as AI emerges, it will become very difficult to manage complex projects with AI.

Learning Project Management

To learn all these things, we will pursue a course and along with that, I will recommend you a tool which will help you learn easily. The course is quite reputable and can be found on the Coursera platform. It’s Google’s Project Management Certification. Through this entire course, you will learn everything about project management from A to Z. In fact, I have selected it because it also includes a ‘Capstone’ project at the end.

Project management is a skill that you cannot learn without practicing. Theoretical knowledge alone is not sufficient. So I would recommend you a tool called ‘Odoo’. In Odoo, there is a project app. Go to the Odoo website, click on the project app, and you can see that this first app is free forever.

Here’s how you can use it:

  1. Click on ‘New Project’ and name it, for example, ‘Your Weekly To-Do List’.
  2. Add stages like ‘Yet to Begin’, ‘Ongoing’, and ‘Completed’.
  3. Start adding tasks such as grocery shopping, studying, assignments, meetings, etc.
  4. Assign deadlines and allocate time to tasks.
  5. Move tasks through stages and track your time.

This will teach you the basic skills of project management that you can further utilize in handling complex projects.

AI Ethics and Bias

The third skill we’ll discuss is AI Ethics and Bias. As AI is emerging, there are many laws and ethical considerations regarding its use, and many developments are happening in this regard. Learning this skill has been seeing remarkable growth in the industry, almost a 20% growth rate.

Learning AI Ethics and Bias

There are many tools available for this, such as courses, guidelines, and case studies. I recommend checking out the Government of India’s national portal for AI. It has all the initiatives and latest updates related to AI, along with a resources section with case studies and learning activities.

Additionally, there is a course from the University of Helsinki that explains AI basics and ethics very well. It is presented in a simple format with pictures and diagrams, making it accessible even for those from a non-tech background.

Cyber Security

The fourth skill I’ll talk about is Cyber Security. Cyber attacks have increased significantly, making it important for everyone to know how to keep themselves secure online. There are remarkable job opportunities in this field.

Learning Cyber Security

A professional certification offered by Microsoft can help you become a cyber security analyst. This certification is available on the Coursera website. For those interested in the basics, the Government of India has created a handbook for students to help protect themselves online. If your interest in cybersecurity grows, you can pursue the Microsoft certification.

Communication

Our final skill is communication. Despite India having the second-largest population of English speakers, proficiency and fluency are often lacking. A solid command over English is necessary for global job roles.

Improving Communication Skills

You can start with the basics using a website from Cambridge. Additionally, I recommend the ‘Choral Reading’ or ‘Imitation Technique’ using the English Speeches channel on YouTube. This technique involves listening to a line, pausing, and repeating it. This practice can significantly improve your English fluency.

Conclusion

In addition to these skills, I plan to make a proper article on communication next month. I hope you find this article helpful and gain some skills to learn.

National Job Portal (NJP)

National Job Portal (NJP) is the official online application platform by Government of Pakistan. Almost 90% of federal Government departments starts recruitment through the National Job Portal for different posts in their department.
